From the recording Ep. 6: Asuka (Composer, Koto Player)
There’s an old adage in the music business that says you shouldn’t meet your idols. Well, during my last week in Japan I had the absolute pleasure of meeting Asuka, my music idol. Asuka is based in Tokyo and plays the koto, a 13-stringed, traditional wooden instrument that is 6 feet long and made of Paulownia wood. She is based in Tokyo and also happens to be a kimono fashion icon. She’s collaborated with artist in many genres including Japanese singer, Monday Michiru, dancers the Straw Hatz, a fashion house in Paris, and many more. So yes, that means, today’s episode hits 2 out of 3 major food groups covered by Concerts, Kimonos and Cocktails.
